Schedule

The original and first of Its kind in the United States. This two day event showcases some of the best, Gothic, Dark Symphonic, Hardcore, and Industrial bands on the planet! This is the official expo for the gothic subculture, featuring two days of Music, Tattoos, Extreme Exhibits, Clothing, Fashion, Body Art and Accessories. Plus Magazines, Webzines, Record Labels, and so much more! Dates for the next official gothic festival and expo are Friday, October 12th and Saturday, October 13th 2007.

Gothicfest 2007 will be held at the Excalibur in downtown Chicago. This castle like building designed by Henry Ives Cobb was built in 1892. The massive multi room, nine level maze can be a bit intimidating at first. With its gothic overtones, dark winding corridors and spiral staircases, it should come as no surprise that the space was once a downtown church.  According to rumors, the building was also used to house corpses from a shipwreck, was a mob-related murder scene, a pornographic theater, and a crack house before it was turned into the Limelight Nightclub by Peter Gatien in 1985. It is also rumored that the building was a place of Satanic rituals.

Excalibur has a capacity of 2,000 and hosts several full service liquor bars that serve food and refreshments as well. Due to the adult nature of this festival and expo, Gothicfest 2007 will be an over 21 event. Here are some links of interest:

North Americas Largest Gothic Festival a Success

Thousands of "beauties and beasts" turned out to support GOTHICFEST to support the North Americas Gothic scene.

(PRWEB) September 24, 2005 -- Thousands of "beauties and beasts" turned out to support GOTHICFEST at The Odeum, Villa Park, Il. this past weekend to join together in a community effort to support the North Americas Gothic scene.

Gothic Fest (DARK STAR RECORDS) & (SGL ENTERTAINMENT) was comprised of numerous musical acts, including Hanzel Und Gretyl, Slick Idiot with En Esch and Guenter Schulz formerly of KMFDM, Project .44 with Levi Levi (Thrill Kill Kult), Grigori 3, Slave Driver, Racheal's Surrender, 13 Winters, Ofearia and more.

The dark expo had numerous vendors & sponsors including Transylvania Imports,VAMP (energy drink) Design Toscano, DeFacto Clothing, 99th floor,Top Notch Tattoos, Projekt Records, Cutterz Edge, Phaedra's Philtres, Theatrikil Productions, Count Midnight,Dark Candles, Evil Kitty, Twilight's Muse Jewelry,Bone Daddy Creations,Jerry Ohlinger's Movie Material's Store,Witchschool.com and more.Various dark authors from the North America including Nickolaus Pacione, John Everson,Michelle Bellanger,Corvis Nocturnum .

The event gained industry press attention from both the subculture and mainstream alike, including SPIN,Mazur PR,Lollipop, MK,Red Scream and Fangoria Magazines and various support from radio and TV alike -including Redemption TV (UK).

The Festival evening showcased some of the best dark talent around North America.Quite a vast array of talent performed. including Hanzel und Gretyl, Slick Idiot, Grigori 3, Slave Driver & Project .44 . However the female fronted bands Hanzel und Gretyl & (new comers) Grigori 3 made their own impressions in the night, each storming the stage and moving the audience with their own distinctive dark sounds.

The festival stood out in the handful of genres related yearly events. It was compared to Wave Gothic Treffen a similar event held yearly in Europe which is said to bring in over 50,000 people. Although the first year for GOTHICEFST the day brought in a few thousand people.Where many of the events around the country hold true to this idea on a smaller scale GOTHICFEST was the first to get so many involved and truly make it a community effort. This was the true first year of the event and it held up to it's promise and delivered.

Information and photos and merchandise available at Gothicfest.com watch for the exclusive DVD release coming to stores throughout the country.
